At our club, we believe fencing development goes far beyond competing on the strip. We are committed to supporting our fencers in multiple pathways, including coaching and refereeing, helping them grow as leaders, role models, and contributors to the fencing community.
Whether a fencer’s goal is to mentor younger athletes, give back to the sport, or build skills that support college applications and future careers, we provide guidance, training, and real opportunities to succeed.
Fencers interested in coaching are supported through:
• Mentorship from our head coaches
• Hands-on experience in classes and camps
• Leadership and communication development
• Opportunities to grow into paid coaching or assistant roles
Many of our coaches began their journey as students in our program.

We encourage and support fencers interested in becoming referees. Refereeing builds rule knowledge, confidence, and meaningful involvement in the sport.
Our support includes:
• Rule education and bout analysis
• Certification preparation
• Refereeing experience at practices and events
• Ongoing mentorship and feedback
We are proud of the fencers in our program who also serve as referees:
• Saif Alanazi since 2023
• Julia Budko since 2023
• Sevi Bruce since 2024
• Lana Bruce Since 2024
• Lydia Xing 2024
• Christian Goss 2024
• Bonné since 2025
(This list will continue to grow as more of our fencers pursue refereeing opportunities.)
